The Ligonier Township Municipal Authority delivers public water and sewer service to neighborhoods across the Laurel Highlands. We operate the reservoir, filtration plant, and collection systems that keep clean water flowing and waste safely treated.

01 / What we do

A small public utility with a wide responsibility.

We operate a slow sand filtration plant completed in 1994, a backup well in the State Game Lands, and miles of distribution and collection mains. Water is drawn from the township reservoir fed by South Branch Creek, filtered, disinfected, and delivered to homes and businesses across our service neighborhoods.

On the sewer side, we own and maintain collection systems in North Ligonier, Oakwood Hills, Park Plan, Ligonier East, and the Darlington corridor. Most sewage is conveyed to the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County for treatment. The Darlington system runs through its own dedicated plant.

Every day our operators sample water, read meters, inspect pumps, and respond to calls. Every year we publish a Consumer Confidence Report so customers can see exactly what is in the water we deliver.
